Three Things...

First, WTF is THIS?

Photobucket

Is that a SNOWFLAKE?!?!? I thought it didn't snow that much up here. They told us when we were moving here that IT DIDN'T SNOW THAT MUCH HERE!!! It's OCTOBER for God's sake!

It's been freaking cold up here lately guys. I know you all think I am being overly dramatic because I'm a big baby from Florida, but no. Anyone who saw last night's postponed World Series game knows. It's wet, WINDY and very chilly.

Oh, and by the way, the 15 minute walk to the train in the morning has lost a lot of it's appeal. Oh, and don't forget my 10 minute walk to my office. Blech.

Secondly, as of tonight, I have officially lost 10 lbs since I moved to Philly. I wasn't really trying and I haven't been dieting, but marathon training helps and working keeps me from stuffing my face from boredom all day. While I am by no means skinny, I am at least back at my fighting weight. I gained 10lbs those few months last spring with all the baby drama and moving I'm happy that it's long gone. Buh-bye.

Lastly, I sucked it up and ran on the treadmill tonight. I know a lot of you suggested I run during my lunch break, but it's just not possible. The University is not in the best part of town and the campus is pretty small. Plus, since I'm part-time and hourly, my hour lunch is pretty strict. There is just not enough time.

I have a small gym where I live with 3 treadmills so that's great. What is not so great is that I wanted to stab my eyes out after about 10 minutes of running tonight. I tried to make it a bit more exciting by doing a few speed work intervals, but after about 4o minutes I had had enough. I ran a little over 5 miles and called it a day.

Hopefully it will only be about one day a week. And as I recently remembered, I am only in training for 25 more days, then I can start gaining weight and hibernating again. Haha!

That's great you were able to do 5 miles on the hamster wheel. I rarely can last that long.

PS - welcome to Philadelphia :) Wait until you see the city shut down with 1/2 inch of snow. And if you see snow, enjoy it. It'll turn to an icy mess soon enough!

I don't think you're a big baby. There were snow flurries in Mpls. on Sunday and I was not pleased.

They don't call it the dreadmill for nothing, but good job for getting some miles in. Speed intervals is also my trick for getting through it. Soon it will be taper time.

It sucks to be non-exempt in the workforce, doesn't it.

Congratulations on the weight loss. Ten pounds is amazing.

Who said it wasn't cold in Philly??? Matt was watching ESPN yesterday and they showed the field all white. It is too early for the temps to be so low. But, we are havign much cooler weather her in NC too. I think we are all headed for a cold winter.

And, I agree a 10 minute walk in the morning, in the cold or rain gets old fast. I have a 5 mintute walk from the bus to my building and I can't stand it when it is cold out, especially in the mornings.

Nice job getting on the treadmill.

I don't like the treadmill either. Bor-ing!

You loved it!! ROFLMAO! We got the same thing. But thankfully it didn't stick. It IS pretty unusual to get snow this early (even for me, and I'm even more North than you). Don't fret, it's supposed to be back in the "normal" temps but Halloween. HAHAHA

CONGRATS on the weight loss chica! Sweetness!

LOL at: "First WTF is THIS?" I might add to that "Second, WTF is this?" LOL. It would be nice if the cold weather came a bit more gradually so we could all adjust to it.

Good job getting on the 'mill. Sometimes we have to get creative to keep running incorporated into our busy lives. It's certainly not the most fun, but if you stick with the 'mill you may learn to tolerate it better over time.

Congrats on the weight loss too.

Great Job!!! I know it is cold there, I have been complaining about 45-50 degree weather in MO. Then woke up to 27 degrees this morning ahhhhh. Treadmill for me too... It gets kind of boring considering I watch the wall, Maybe I can talk my hubby into a Flat Screen for that wall???

We got snow here during the night LOL You're not alone in your misery!! Your the big baby from Florida while I am the one from Windsor... :-P I swear to god Windsor has a micro-system that prevents snow and coldness before Christmas and me liked it a lot!

As far as the weight loss: CONGRATS!! I am so jealous, I need to lose the weight I gain writing my thesis and it is so hard. Just got back to officially trying... that was after B'day cake for brekkie lunch and dinner LOL

Congrats on the 10 lbs loss! That's great. And if you lasted 40 minutes ont he treadmill, it'a about 39 more minutes than I would've lasted.

Yea, I don't know how I run on the treadmill so often. It made me laugh you said you wanted to stab your eyes out. Great visual there! Hibernating and being lazy, woo hoo. I think you are going to rock at Philly! Congrats on the 10 lb loss!

I would die of freezingness in that weather, so you are NOT a baby. Hopefully it will swing back to "normal" soon.

24 more days? You can DOOOO it.

Hey, the Phillies just won the World Series!!! Congratulations! The first year I moved to Minneapolis, 1991, the Twins won the World Series. My husband was at a restaurant downtown and he could hear the roar from the Metrodome a mile away. It's great fun to be in a city where your team won. Will there be a ticker-tape parade?

Sorry about the snow. That sucks. I'm hoping it holds off here for at least another month.

Oh, that does look like a snowflake. I'm not ready for winter to be here either. One thought for your walk to and from the train - long johns!

Congratulations on your weight loss!

Yes, we woke to snow on Sunday morning ... and 36mph winds.

Anne Mahlum is a high school classmate of mine. I don't really know her that well, but I think Back on My Feet is wonderful! I have been spreading the word to get more votes for her!

No I am not from Philly. I am living in Fargo, ND and grew up in Bismarck, ND.

Ugh I hate the cold. Congrats on your fighting weight!

You've been lied to...it's cold up here...lol.

I love the comments on the treadmill because I'm so just like that. Hate it, hate it, hate it! Makes training in the winter a real pain. Hmmm, do I want 20 degrees and windy or the dreadmill?

just the word snow makes me COLD! stay warm! :)

I totally empathize with treadmill winter running. ICK! When I used to live in Wisconsin and spent a lot of time on the treadmill I used to put it at a huge incline so I could feel like I was getting more workout for less time :) Hope the eye-stabbing desire goes away!
